Golfing and SUGAR!

Yesterday, Ken, his mom, Kim, Nick and I all went golfing on the island. I have only golfed one time in my life before yesterday. It was fun to try and hit the ball and be able to golf on Maui. The course was really pretty PLUS we got to have our own golf cart. I think my favorite part was driving the golf cart! It was fun just hitting the ball around and trying to learn the game.

Me, trying to get the correct form...so much to remember!

So we came home, and SURPRISE!! My favorite little Hawaiian dog SUGAR came walking up the steps again to say hello! I had Ken get the camera to snap some photos of my vacation doggy! She is so cute and lovesss to have a nice belly rub! Sorry Lou and Jake...cover your eyes...

Me giving sugar a belly rub! She is so cute!

She didn't want to leave at all! She is too cute!

Today we are off the go snorkeling

Burning Cane and a Sunrise...

This morning we got up at 4:00am to go see the sunrise at a place called the Crater on the other side of the island. We got up and when we walked outside it was still pitch black (except for a orange tinted sky). I say to Ken "Ahh the sun is already rising"...turns out that right off the main road they were burning cane. The field was SO huge and was completely on fire! It was so neat to see it done at night time because it had the most amazing orange glow. ..

The cane field burning

It lit up the sky, such a bright orange color

So that was an unexpected surprise. After we snapped some pictures we were off the the Crater. It was about an hour drive on a VERY curvy road. I got a little car sick, so Ken pulled over to let me drive. Once we got there is was so cold and windy, but SO worth it. We were at an elevation of 9,700ft, we were above the clouds, it was one of the neatest things we have done while we have been here. Absolutely amazing...

The sun just peering over the top of the clouds

Almost all the way up

And it's up! Beautiful...

Ken and I...a little bright

On our way down the mountain, we saw a side area that you could pull off and look at the craters from another area. It was so neat...

The craters...

Ken and I at the top of the HUGE valley

It was so worth it to get up at 4:00am to go see the sunrise. SO COOL! We are having a great time here! I never want to leave!

We are off the go golfing right now...wish me luck. I have only golfed one time in my entire life...this should be an experience!

Rainbows, Iao Valley & Windsurfing

Today, Before I started blogging I went through all my pictures I took to decided which ones to use. As I was going through I saw the picture ken and I took before dinner last night and to my surprise there was a RAINBOW in the sky above us! We had no idea it was there last night when we took it, and I think it is by FAR the coolest picture I have ever taken. Take a look at the fun surprise below.....

The Rainbow....!!

Anyhoo... Earlier today Ken and I went to a place called Iao Valley, it is know for its beautiful
scenery. It was such a fun place to go.

This is the 'point'... clearly very pointy.

Taking the walk up to the top of the Valley

Phew, we made it to the top! (it was a hike, little did we know)

So then this afternoon, I went out windsurfing... and GOT UP! This time I got up long enough to even let out a little joyful "YESSSS!" It was so exciting. Ken's mom was able to snap some pictures of me in action... take a look!

WOO!! hanging on!

Look how far out I got!!

Ahh it was soo exciting to actually get up and get moving! Sorry about the excessive blogging, it's so my family can see what I'm up to!...

Last night...

Last night was so much fun! After windsurfing, we all got ready for dinner and sat on the back balcony and talked for about an hour. Then we went into a town about 2 minutes away called Paia. We ate at a place called Charley's. It was so yummy! Here are some pics of us before dinner!

Ken and I before we left for dinner. It's a little windy this side of the island

Me... doing a touristy picture! I couldn't resist!

Another one of Ken and I

We are still waiting for a beautiful sunset..
This is the closest we have gotten!

I just had to take a minute and talk about the flowers in Maui! They are SOO beautiful. These we set up in the house before we got here for us. Yes, they are real!

Purrtyyy

Yesterday....I got up S-I-X times windsurfing! Although I didn't stay up for long I did get up on the board! It was so exciting!

Today, I am going into Paia with Ken's mom to do some shopping and take a look at the town.... then maybe try some more windsurfing if I am not too sore...

A dog?... and a beach stroll to Sugar Cove

This morning Ken and I were out reading (well I was reading, he was watching the ocean) out on the balcony. I am turned facing the window, and all of a sudden I hear this "Aurrhhh Aurrrhh" and I was really into my book and the ocean was so loud so I didn't really think anything of it. Then I heard it again but louder.."Aurrhhhg Aurrrgh" so then I think, OK it's a walrus...Then I thought...."I don't even know if Maui has Walruses". So I turn around thinking Ken is playing a joke and me...and I look down and a Cocker Spaniel is sitting down beside the futon just staring at me crying. So for some reason I yell..."KEN DOG!!" I was scared and I don't really know why because my favorite thing in the world is a dog, it was kinda funny. So then I calmed down and started playing with the doggie, who walked all the way up the stairs to say hello to us. We found out the dog's name was Sugar, I hope we see a lot more of sugar while we are here. She was so cute! (I bet Lou and Jakey are jealous!)

Ken and I before dinner last night

So this morning we decided we would walk along to beach and go to a beach called Sugar Cove and take a look at it. It was a fun walk, and so beautiful!

About to start our walk...It was a little rocky sometimes...

Ken, getting ready to start our adventure...

Before our walk, I decided I really wanted to find seashells. So I searched high and low and found one!....

My Maui Seashell...haha

Pretty Palm trees along the way

After a ways of walking we got a good view of
the house we are staying at

Almost at Sugar Cove

White sandy beaches... must mean we are getting close

We made it to Sugar Cove...What a big beach

I hope we see our new doggie friend Sugar again, it made me miss my doggies so much!

Off to windsurf (cough cough) try to windsurf!

Maui adventures....

Two years ago in Hawaii, Ken introduced me his favorite Hawaiian drink: Pog. I tried it...and I LOVE it! Seriously, I must drink a gallon a day here(OK that might be a bit of an exaggeration) BUT every time I go for a drink, I will always grab a glass of Pog. I have no idea what is in it, but it is glorious! It's like juice HEAVEN! I recommend anyone who comes to Hawaii to get a gallon of Pog. We have 4 in the fridge.

Mine and Ken's Pog for breakfast!

The big thing to do on this part of the island is windsurfing. It looks so easy do, but let me tell you. It is by FAR the hardest sport I have ever tried to learn. I usually can catch on to sports quickly, but this is another story. I am hoping that once i practice more, I will be able to go out a ways in the ocean.

Ken Windsurfing, he knows how!

I am the one on the sail attempting to go....no luck yet!
Ken is always so nice trying to teach me

I almost have the hang of it! WOO!

I had windsurfed two years ago, and barely got up. I think that two years ago is helping me with this time around. I am getting closer and closer to going out a ways. I think I am doing pretty well for only my second day. I can't wait to go out farther in the ocean and be able to come back! Wish me luck...hopefully I won't swallow too much salt water tomorrow.... :)

I'm off to go eat dinner! Aloha!

We are in P-A-R-A-D-I-S-E!

We arrived yesterday in Maui, and we were so excited to finally get here! The landing was a little rough (I'm a little nervous about flying) but we made it here safe! We were so lucky because our bags were the first off the plane. So we grabbed our bags and called Ken's parents to come and pick us up. Ken's mom is so sweet and brought us Leis, we REALLY felt like we were in Hawaii then!

Ken and I waiting outside the airport to be picked up!

The Drive from the airport to where we are staying was about 5 mins...and when we
arrived we were AMAZED! The house is absolutely beautiful, and right on the water!
Literally every room has a view of the ocean!

Right when you walk in, a cute little spiral staircase

One of the bedrooms. (you can't really see but the
ocean is right outside the window)

Another bedroom upstairs

The living room, leading the the balcony

The view from standing in the kitchen...Beautiful, isn't it?!

The view from the balcony, where we eat all our meals & watch the windsurfers!

The side balcony, isn't the ocean beautiful??

Ken and I went exploring REALLY early this morning, went the the beach area right below our house, it is so nice because it is secluded, so peaceful...

The walk to our beach area

Ken and I hanging out on the beach! This was around 6am
because we are used to california time! Sooo bright!

We are so excited and can't wait for the next two weeks! We already have so much planned, it will be so great!

ALOHAAA!!

Here is a video of the view, I didn't think the pictures captured the full image!
